You mean luckily it never made production, that roof is awful. Oh, that is the reason why they had roof down in that magazine Without it, it looked very luxurious. -- Last edit: 2015-10-23 19:24:37 |

it's already the case but you are an admin member ;-) Alright, I never knew. It's so strange how cars with new pictures never show under Recently Completed. |

I will look for something. Is it possible in the future to make it so pictures added by non-admin members have to be approved by you? (just like engines, cars, etc.) it's already the case but you are an admin member ;-) |

I see Honda decided to differentiate the Euro-spec Jazz from it's US and Japanese market counterparts by giving it a different grille.
Personally, I prefer the one that US and Japanese models get, but this one doesn't look bad at all. |

Where they were going, they didnt need roads. I guess somewhere above USA.

And yes, I deleted top speed, acceleration and fuel economy because it is not reliable for such old cars. Every two sources says something different. My two sources confirm same ones - magazine and website. But ok. |

I believe you are talking about US modelyears, which my sources confirm. 1960 would be 1959-1960, and 1961 would be 1960-1961. Therefore, this page is dedicated to the 1961 Comet, built from 1960 to 1961. And therefore, both engines were available from beginning to end. Oh, we have got confused model years and production years. Model years were 1960-1961, but as a tradition, car was avaliable from autumn 1959 to autumn 1961. -- Last edit: 2015-10-15 21:41:13 |

Yes and apology acepted ![]() Ok, I can understand it. BTW, did you changed top speeds, 0-60 times and fuel economy to unknown? + in 1960 there was only 90HP version - some sources say it is 85HP, some 90HP. 101HP was only in 1961, and it was used after rebranding it to Mercury Comet from 1962 onwards. These two prototypes was build based on Giulia Sprint GT chassis and were equipped with 1.6 Giulia TI engine, not V8s used in serial production.

My apologies for the Canada-only thing, after some more research I found that the Comet was originally intended to be an Edsel, which went defunct just before the release. Therefore it was just called Comet for 1960 and 1961 (although it was sold through Mercury dealerships). In Canada, there was no 1960 Comet, as they sold the Frontenac there. I have changed the presentation to Paris 1994, because although that car just debuted in Rallye Alasce Vosgues 1995, it has been unveiled in Paris Motorshow 1994.

No, it was not. Proof: Magazine Popular Mechanics was testing Comet in 1961. They were asking following Comet owners: manager from California, pensionist from Nevada, air-traffic guy from Georgia, technical drawer from Pennsylvania, bank employee from Michigan, retired firefighter from Michigan and doctor from California. In Chrom a Plameny magazine issue 05/15 is this car reviewed in 6 pages, that is quite a lot. It is a 1961 Comet of one lady from San Diego that bought it when it was brand new and she sold it to heir serviceman 4 years ago. Do you think that all these people would import the car from Canada? In fact 116 331 Comets were produced in 1960, which is strikingly better than Frontenac, that produced less than 10k, and it was still second best selling compact car in Canada. I doubt that "Comet only for Canada" would make such a monopoly, with advance nearly 100k more cars produced than Frontenac. I dont know either what was wrong with my front pic "EDIT: both" that it was replaced. In 1961 model year Comet replaced Canadian brand that lasted one year: Frontenac. It was basically luxurious Falcon with odd mask and with Ford badges replaced by round badge with red leaf that Canada have in national flag.
