The English translation should be exactly the way you hear it. So if you hear a v-sound instead of a w-sound, it should be Moskvitch. It might be similar to the centuries-old debate about "vodka" or "wodka". That may be the problem. In czech language, V and W have exactly same pronounciation. But as I thought about it more, I think I somehow get it now (and thanks to IGCD member krq9), because english W sounds similar to mine U, so it would sound more oddly. -- Last edit: 2015-11-11 14:57:11 |

Can't find why we're using 'w' in Moscow, but this is an exception. в is a 'v' in every cyrillic-english transcription standard. Why not 'Moskva'? Because in XII century this city was called "Moskov". If am I not mistaken, cyrilic alphabet doesnt have W at all. I must say though, Moscow would look oddly with normal V, but that is only habit. In fact, I dont see reason why they did W either. For sure it looks odd when we are using W in city name and V in car name. It should be either all W, or all V. |

This car was used by my mom parents. Whenewer you wanted to go, it didnt start.

Who came up with bright idea to translate it as Moskvich? It is derived from Moscow, so Moskwich would be more suitable.
(If it is not clear - it is not mistake done by anyone here, but someone who translated it in cold war) |

Indeed, but the agreement between FIAT and POLMOT from X.1971 provides that foreign currency expenditures for the purchase of machinery, equipment, parts and components of the car until they produce in Poland, will be repaid by FSM export. So some of pre-1979 126's were built in Poland as well as every 126 made after 8.6.1979. Oh, thanks for enlighting this for me. I get it now |
||

I can be wrong, but wasnt 126s that were made in Poland actually Polski Fiat 126p?

Is it just me or does it look like Triumph TR7?

I have its commercial papers stashed somewhere. There are all trims (worst didnt have radio
) and all colors. Diesel wasnt available in CZ and I read somewhere that it came in 2004, though I can be wrong. Also it would be interesting to add EuroNCAP results to cars somewhere in future - you would be capable of comparing when you would like to buy used/new cars. For american cars there would be their tests etc etc... |

It was the idea of selling the Australian-built Mitsubishi Sigma in the UK in order to circumvent some quota on the importing of Japanese cars. It didn't really work, and was a pretty dumb idea in hindsight. Oh. So it was like Merkur, but more short-lived. I bet they will be collectors item someday. |

Looks like the french cars that you could drive without licence.

Never heard about it. Was it something like Merkur brand, only Japan?

I think that this year is last model year for Roomster. Most likely there will be no sucessor.

The interior is pretty much what most tuned VW Golfs look like in the Netherlands. VW group cars are not nice to tune, they all look odd somewhat. I also listed this car as a hatchback rather than concept, but I already corrected it. |

Wow. this car is still made after 52 years. Fun fact is, that it was meant to save Studebaker, but Studebaker later went bust and this was produced as a separate brand.

Ashaming example of bad taste and kitchy tuning made on post eastern bloc country car.

Felicia Fun was also available as Felicia Midi Fun. It had big plastic cover above truck bed, often seen on ordinary Felicia Pickups and Vanplus. There were 3 colors available, yellow, orange and green, but only for bumpers, rollbar etc.
|

Shouldnt this be a prototype, since 1 car was built?

For Ford Crown Victoria: Did you know that it was the last car that used Panther platform?
For Mitsubishi Pajero: Did you know that Pajero name must be changed in spanish talking countries, because it had inappropriate meaning?
And I could go on and on and on.
I think it could be entertaining and interesting. Also, newest ones could be shown in same manner that completed cars are, so it would proably boost web visit numbers (due to interesting facts changing daily, or I hope so), and that could mean this site could make more money on advertising and that mean it was more profitable for Rinspeed, and that would mean...
