Why not 'Moskva'? Because in XII century this city was called "Moskov".

But as I thought about it more, I think I somehow get it now (and thanks to IGCD member krq9), because english W sounds similar to mine U, so it would sound more oddly. -- Last edit: 2015-11-11 14:57:11

That may be the problem. In czech language, V and W have exactly same pronounciation.
But as I thought about it more, I think I somehow get it now (and thanks to IGCD member krq9), because english W sounds similar to mine U, so it would sound more oddly.
