I personally like that car, much like every car from communism, but unfortunately I havent ridden one. Yes, it was a good car comparing to its time and circumstances, but choosing it as a daily car today is absolute madness. It's awfully slow (almost minute to get 100km/h, it's hard to safely enter to crowded roads outside town. It's more than likely you will became a decent car mechanic after spendind a year or two with 126p - it brokes and need maintenance (lubricating, fulfilling oils) very often. But in fact almost every repair is simple even for a beginner. You can demount an engine and rear axle in minutes. Fuel consumption is way too big for its performace (7-8l/100km), you need to tune the carburator from time to time and won;t be shocked if your Maluch eats even 10l/100km if you forgot about that. It has almost no luggage, space in the rear is enough at most for 8yo kid. Sometimes he tries to kill you by weak, easily heating brakes or sudden opening the doors (from mod. 1978, I know the guy who screw this up) - few years ago I almost lost my girlfriend that way entering a corner with 70kmh.. But there are three IMO most important advantages: 1. It's uncredible easy and cheap to repair 2. It performs better in really bumpy roads than some modern "SUV"s 3. Irreplaceable in mountains during winter - you need to just to turn out your car, turn on reverse gear and you will slowly climb on every snowed height ( Few einters ago I was the only one who did this somwhere in Beskid mountains, any other car, even the modern ones failed at most in the middle ) oh, and 4. It has nice swap potential - I saw Maluch with several engines like Uno 1.1, Punto 1.2, Yamaha R1 and it;s ride like hell. Well they have less doors but who cares Agree. If you don't need 5dr body choose CC Sporting. I drove CC900 for a week and it's reliable as a typical city car. Incredible visibility in all directions, more space than in Tico, more comfortable seats, quite spacious for its size. The only reason you can choose Tico is you absolutely need 5 doors or you are absolutely out of money. 2011-04-23 18:11 | Worst car I've ever been in. We had one as a rental a few years ago, and the thing was only about a year old. There were your usual rental problems (dirty, worn seats, etc.), but it also had a horrible ride on the main roads and highways. It was worse than having a tractor as a daily driver. No wonder they only sell for $1,000-$2,000 on the dealer lots these days. Absolute junk. |
