Desscythe17 2020-03-24 20:56 | This car and the '59 Continental Mark IV are a bit difficult to put on the correct brand. The 56-57 Continental Mark II was sold under a "separate" Continental brand to make it seem more luxurious and exclusive than a Lincoln. For 1958, Ford Motor Co. decided to discontinue the Continental sub-brand, and sell the car through the Lincoln brand again. However, even though the car was sold in Lincoln dealerships and shown in the Lincoln brochure, the car was still listed as "Continental Mark III" (without any mention of Lincoln). For this reason, I decided to put the car on the Lincoln brand instead of the Continental brand, but not mention Lincoln in the name. The Mark V introduced for 1960 was directly sold under the Lincoln brand, and will therefore be listed as such. 58 brochure as an example: www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/lincoln/58li/bilder/7.jpg -- Last edit: 2020-03-24 20:58:01 |
