Originally built in Xi'an's Xincheng District by Qinchuan. In 2003 BYD Company bought it and renamed it BYD Auto. But the plant was too small for BYD's ambition, so in 2005 they inaugurated a much bigger factory in Chang'an District, still in Xi'an.
