But Shanghai GM is a corporation, while Dongfeng Citroën is also a make. You can say Dongfeng Citroën C4, but not Shanghai GM LaCrosse.

Exactly. The LaCrosse is on the LWB Epsilion platform, which makes it more closely related to the new Saab 9-5 than the Regal/Insignia.
