Mark0 2016-01-18 20:04 | When Ford promoted Merkur XR4Ti they immediately started racing them. They didn't want to wait for Ford to develop base car. Some teams like Rouse Engineering and Eggenberger used US racing cars whit some minor differences for different rules. |
Desscythe17 2016-01-18 19:58 | Why would racing drivers in Europe drive a Merkur? You could just put the engine in a Sierra, since the Merkur also has US bumpers and everything. |
Mark0 2016-01-18 19:41 | That's because people in Europe didn't know what Merkur is. So not to confuse them they used Ford Sierra name. |

JFK 2016-01-18 17:31 | sajmon14 wrote but it has the 2.3l engine like in Merkur, while the Sierra had a 2.8 liter engine Well they could use whole Merkur XR4Ti. I mean, it is not too different, and some racing drivers in europe drove Merkurs. |
sajmon14 2016-01-18 17:29 | JFK wrote Wut. There is mistake in the name (not done by anyone here, but by the racing team). XR4Ti was Merkur, Sierra was XR4i. but it has the 2.3l engine like in Merkur, while the Sierra had a 2.8 liter engine |
