2016-01-23 23:43 | German wikipedia says that design of the ATS is called "Stummelheck". Never heard a german say that. Ironically Wikipedia also says that Hatchback can be "Stummelhecks" too. Thats just hatchbacks with very short rear.

Desscythe17 2016-01-23 22:52 | I'm quite sure the ATS is a regular 4-door sedan. The correct use of hatchback really is a car where the rear window opens together with the trunk.
JFK 2016-01-23 22:51 | Mieguy wrote I see that the ATS is not a "real" Hatchback, because Hatchbacks have a rear hatch that also lifts the window up. However we generally still call it Hatchback if the rear is very short and the window close to the end. This also depends on country. ... Oh, okay then, I see it is a thing that depends on state, because in CZ we have it as that: Hatchback - car with end cutted off and rear window open with trunk - for example Golf, Astra, Ibiza, Fabia Liftback - something between hatchback an sedan. It have openable rear window together with trunk, but it is shaped moreless like a sedan - Passat, Vectra, Octavia Fastback - it is not a regular word in CZ (mostly between US cars enthusiasts, which I am), but since the Bullit Mustang is a great example of a Fastback, I use it personally only for coupes without clear border of cabin and trunk - 1980s Rapid EDIT: I just translated the word "hatch" to see what it means. It sounds funny, something like entrance to a submarine. BTW we dont have for hatchback nor liftback our own words, but for fastback we use phrase "Kupé se splývavou zádí" - "Coupe with merged back" -- Last edit: 2016-01-23 22:56:21

However we generally still call it Hatchback if the rear is very short and the window close to the end. This also depends on country. In Germany the term "Hatchback" (Fließheck) is basically gone. We either say 4- or 5-door. The 5-door is the classic Hatchback given by the common explanation. The word Fließheck is rarely used, specifically on cars that are available as Sedan and Hatchback. The Opel Insignia is one of current rare examples where we germans call it a Fließheck so to differ it from the "Stufenheck"-Insignia (= Sedan). Edit: Oh and the term Liftback is handled like "Fastback" in Germany. Its just a manufacturer name. -- Last edit: 2016-01-23 22:40:21

(Even the Smart is 2,50 Meter) My point was: have you ever seen a Cadillac hatchback (that's what it said!) aside from a concept? No. Cadillac has not, will not, nor will ever build a hatchback.

2016-01-22 17:21 | My 6th grade math book asked an unsolveable question about this thing - "The car is as long as 30 compact cars of the same make How long is each car?"
Desscythe17 2015-12-27 14:46 | I would say prototype myself.
JFK 2015-12-27 14:41 | This is hard to decide what it should be listed. Limousine - well, this is indeed a limousine, but not for sale or normal using Race: Record - yeah, this car was built only to became longest car in world, but I doubt it was racing, or ever moving with at higher speed than continents move. Prototype - ultimate solution for all oddities?

Best source I could find: articles.chicagotribune.com/1986-07-20/features/8602220324_1_world-records-ultra-limousine-vini-bergema Sadly, the car is now in this shape: s.yimg.com/os/en-US/cms/autos/Boldride/longest-car-in-the-world-restoration.jpg Damn.
