Like a few other Toyotas, the RAV4 came in different versions for different dealership networks. The RAV4 J was for the Netz network, and the RAV4 L was for the Corolla network.

The only visual difference seems to be the grille, with a diagonal pattern for the J, and a horizontal pattern for the L. After the facelift in 2003, the two models this difference disappeared, and the models became identical.
